Sister Camillus Walshe
A Mercy Sister, Sr Camillus joined the religious community in Ewuaso. Formerly from The Downs, Mullingar, Co Westmeath, Ireland, Sister has spent the past 30 years working in Kenya. With her dynamic character, countless skills and endless experience Sr Camillus is a key figure in the development of the parish of Ewuaso Nkidongi, particularly in the field of education.

Sister Alona and Sister Eliza:
With thanks to the Sister-in-Charge, Sr. Grace, The Sisters of the Congregation of the Daughters of the Heart of Mary have come to live and serve the community in our parish of Ewuaso, officially named Yesu, Empiris ENkai Parish.

On the 22nd of August 2004, the Feast of the Queenship of Mary, the sister's house was blessed by Bishop Cornelius in the presence of priests, sisters, seminarians, parish council members and some parishioners. The Mass was celebrated by the Bishop assisted by Fr. John Fortune parish priest and Fr. John Nderito, the former parish priest.

Daughters of the Heart of Mary is an international Congregation founded by Rev. Fr. Peter Joseph de Cloriviere and Melle. Adelaide de Cice in France during the French revolution in 1790. The Congregation was brought into existence to respond to the need of the time, to preserve religious life, to aim at the glory of God, service of the Church and the salvation of the world. The Sisters are engaged in different apostolic activities in 31 countries throughout the world in education, hospital, pastoral, empowerment of women, youth, children, especially with socially and financially less privileged groups. In Kenya they are involved in pastoral, home management course for school dropouts and young mothers, refugee programme and working in the slum with other NGOs. Personal prayer, devotion to the Blessed Sacrament and Mary mother of Jesus are their special charism. Absence of any uniform or exterior sign help them to penetrate into the mileu where service is needed. When the nuns moved into their convent at Ewuaso they were received like royalty by the people. They had to get out of their car at the gate and were accompanied by the people, singing and dancing, to the hall for mass. After the mass they were welcomed officially by the elders and an open discussion began among the people to 'name' the sisters. They were given appropriate Maasai names by which they are now known by all people in the area. Sr. Alona is known as 'Nashipae' and Sr. Eliza as 'Nariku Nkera'. This was all followed by a procession of singing and dancing to the convent followed by a meal for all present.
